Company Overview
Sterling Meat Company, based in Manchester, operates under two successful brands:
- Meat Mart – a chain of traditional butcher shops located in Astley, Barnsley, Hellaby, Hunslet, and Wigan.
- Sterling Foods to Go – a growing range of grab-and-go outlets offering hot and cold meals, with stores in Stockport, Salford, and two in Hull, along with recent expansions into Middleton, Doncaster, and Ashton-under-Lyne.
The business was founded in 2018 by Tom Cribbins, following the closure of Crawshaw Group.
Leadership
Jim Viggars MD , a seasoned executive in the UK meat industry, played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s origins. Formerly CEO of Crawshaw Group PLC (appointed May 2018), Jim’s experience and insight into the fresh meat sector contributed to the foundation and strategic direction of Sterling Meat Company, following Crawshaw’s administration.
